30 days of design


Preview: It’s the start of 2018 and, after the Christmas break (a time for copious amounts of turkey and general laziness), we’re all eager to kick off the new year with a bang. This challenge is exactly what it says on the tin: the idea is to design something new every day. For this project, I will be using a random object generator and creating a small illustration (or icon) every day, for 30 days, in around 15 minutes.

4 hour icon design challenge


Preview: I don’t know why but Paris was the first city I decided on. Perhaps I just thought of iconic landmarks and the Eiffel Tower just popped into my head. At this stage, I had no idea what style I wanted my icons to be, I didn’t know if I wanted to create line icons, block icons, detailed icons, arty icons… so I just opened up Illustrator, pulled in a picture of the Eiffel Tower and started drawing.

UX tips for mobile website design


Preview: First and foremost you should consider your user. For instance, if you know that your audience is going to be predominantly older, (because there are older smartphone users) you should consider increasing type size a couple of points from what you would normally use. But this doesn’t mean you can’t use smaller type, especially as part of a more complex typographic hierarchy. Also remember that, as with clothes from different shops, different fonts come out at different sizes.
